Dear U-debate users,
Welcome to the Immigration for reasons of family reunification topic, which is discussing several requirements on the immigrants who apply for the entry and residence of their family members in the EU, as allowed by the Council Directive 2003/86/EC on the right to family reunification (Article 7). The purpose of Directive is to determine the conditions for the exercise of the right to family reunification by third country nationals residing lawfully in the territory of the Member States.
The basic purpose of this topic is to exchange and collect your contributions relating to the following starting question:
Should EU Member States continue imposing income, housing and/or social security requirements on the immigrants who apply for the entry and residence of their family members in the EU, as allowed by the EU Directive on the right to family reunification (Article 7)?
Your contributions can highlight Issues, Alternatives, Pro Arguments, Con Arguments and Comments reflecting your main concerns, proposals, viewpoints or suggestions necessary to address problems in question. The ultimate aim of the discussion is to create a summary report of the discussion by the facilitator which will reflect participants’ concerns in a comprehensive way useful for different target groups such as citizens, immigrants workers, non-governmental organisations, decision-makers, stakeholders and media.
